Why did you choose a career in policing?
Law enforcement had always been in the back of my mind growing up — it was something I was naturally drawn to. When the chance to apply as a deputy sheriff recruit came along, I didn’t hesitate. I was at a point in my life where I was looking for something more meaningful and felt a strong pull to serve and give back to the community.
What’s the best part of working for FPD and in the Fargo community?
For me, it’s the combination of professional growth and community connection. The FPD offers so many paths to learn and develop your skills and being part of the largest municipal agency in the state means there’s always something new to explore. On top of that, the level of trust and support we receive from the Fargo community is something I don’t take for granted — it truly makes the job fulfilling.
What is your favorite Academy/Training memory?
Even though it’s been more than 20 years since I went through the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office Training Academy, I still remember the sense of camaraderie. We had recruits from all over California working side by side with different destinations ahead of us but the same goal — to graduate. The friendships, teamwork and shared challenges created a bond that I still carry with me today.
